Opalite is a man made stone that is often mistaken for other more valuable gemstones which can push the price up. Sometimes it is called opalite moonstone or many other names that come from real gemstones and are misguiding when used to describe opalite. More often than not, if a stone is labelled Opalite, it is simply sand which is heated and at the point of melting, becomes glass.
